How Do I Register?
The receptionists register you as a patient either with your previous medical card or a new form. We feel it is important for all new patients to see the nurse for a brief health check and this will be offered to you. Please take advantage of this. Temporary residents are welcome.
Make an Appointment?
All surgery consultations are by appointment only and should be made by phoning 9143366/9143368 or calling in at the surgery. The surgery only has a small number of pre-bookable appointments, with the majority only bookable on the day. Patients will be seen on the day they make the request.
Surgery times will vary according to the individual Doctors clinical and teaching commitments. You may see any Doctor available, you are not limited to the doctor you are registered with.
On occasions there may be delays; if you have to wait, please be patient, as there may be a time when you need a longer consultation in the future. A single appointment is for one person only. If you think your problem can be dealt with over the phone you can make a telephone consultation appointment with the doctor during morning or evening surgery. Ask the receptionist for advice on this when making your appointment
IF YOUR APPOINTMENT IS NO LONGER NEEDED PLEASE TELL US, SO THAT SOMEONE ELSE CAN HAVE THE APPOINTMENT.

Request a Visit? top
If you are too ill to travel, or housebound and need a home visit, please telephone the surgery on 914 3366 or 914 3368 before 10.30am.
To allow us to assess the urgency of each visit, our receptionist will take the following details
- patients full name
- age
- address
- telephone number and
- reason for requesting the visit.
Should you feel the problem is urgent, please make this clear to the receptionist.
The Doctor may telephone you to discuss the problem.
Please remember that we can examine and assess patients better at the surgery.
Visits will take place between morning and evening surgeries. The Doctors often have several visits to do, and will visit as soon as possible. Should you get much worse, telephone the practice urgently.
Get a Repeat Prescription? top
Requests for repeat prescriptions may be left at the reception desk, posted through the letterbox, sent in by post or by fax. Requests for repeat prescriptions are not taken over the telephone or by email. Exceptions are made for some disabled patients. Collections can be made at the surgery, by post (please enclose a stamped addressed envelope for return) or by you requesting collection by a local pharmacist.
Please tick the items you need on the receipt part of the prescription.
Prescriptions willl be ready for collection 48 hours after we have received the request. On occasions this does take longer if the doctor has a query with your medication.
The Practice also supports the Repeat Dispensing Service, a new initiative whereby repeat prescriptions can be collected directly from the pharmacy of your choice.
Request a Sick Note? top
Patients are able to self certify for the first seven days (5 working days) of any illness - this is the law and sick notes will not be provided unless with a private charge for requests in this period.
A Doctor needs to have made an assessment for this legal document, so the patient must be either seen by one of our Doctors or the Practice must have access to a report from the hospital. This may be a Casualty sheet, which must be brought to the Practice on the next working day.
Sick notes (also called med3 or med5) will not be provided without an assessment.
A telephone consultation may be acceptable for requests where an assessment has been made by a Doctor previously.
If you are unsure ,please speak to one of our reception team or book a telephone appointment with a Doctor.
Request Test Results? top
When taking tests the Doctors or Nurse will advise you on when the result will be available, and you can telephone for these on 914 3366 after 2pm.
Blood results usually take 5 working days. Other tests, eg X-ray results, often take longer.
You may need to speak to the Doctor or nurse to discuss your results.
