The Ludlow Hill Nursing team comprises of 4 Practice Nurses, a Health Care Assistant and a Phlebotomist.

 

CHRISTINE WILKS
Senior Practice Nurse

Christine has been a Practice Nurse since 1999 and joined our team in July 2003

She qualified as an RGN in 1994 at York District Hospital. Her previous experience includes time spent in health care of the elderly, general medicine,cardiology,prison nursing and school college nursing.

Christine's special interests include heart disease, mental health and travel health.

HELEN BOYD

Senior Practice Nurse

Helen has worked as a Practice Nurse since 1994 and joined our team in 2004.

Helen qualified as RGN in 1989 at the East Birmingham School of Nursing. She has worked in the the general surgical, orthopaedic and general medical fields.

Subsequently she qualified as a District Nurse from Canterbury Christ Church College in 1993.

Her special interests are diabetes, wound care and travel health.

RONA BOWICK
Practice Nurse

Rona registered as a RGN in 1974 and has been a Practice Nurse since 1998.

Her special interests are care of the elderly, asthma, chronic lung disease and is jointly responsible for the childhood immunisation programme at the Practice.

KATE HOLME

Health Care Assistant

Kate has worked as a medical receptionist in Nottinghamshire since 1990 and trained in Phlebotomy in 2001. 

She joined Ludlow Hill Surgery as a Phlebotomist and Health Care Assistant in 2004. She is aiming to further broaden her skills in with training in wound care.

Kate's appointments consist of new patient checks, dietary advice and blood tests.  She also performs ECGs and monitors the Practice's thyroid register.

ANDREA THORNEYCROFT

Practice Nurse

Andrea qualified as an RGN in 1995 and since then has worked for the Army and the NHS.

She joined Ludlow Hill Surgey in January 2006 as part of the Practice Nurse Apprentiship Scheme.  She completed the course and joined our nursing team in June 2006.

Andrea is particularly interested in women's health, travel health and weight management.

ANITA RYDER

Phlebotomist

Anita has been at the Practice for 12 years as Reception Manager and also qualified as a Phlebotomist in 2004.

She routinely does Phlebotomy sessions within the Practice.

PHLEBOTOMY SERVICE

Our Phlebotomists run clinics every morning and take the majority of the blood tests that are performed within the Practice.

All our blood tests must be performed by 11.30am as the blood has to be received by the Laboratory by midday.
